LONDON, Ont. - Lindsay Carson led throughout most of the race to pace the Guelph Gryphons to the women's team title at the OUA cross-country championship Oct. 27 at Thames Valley Golf Club in rainy conditions in London.

The first-year Biomedical Engineering student finsihed with a time of 17:36 in the women's 5-km race to lead the pack and pace her team to victory.

Western's Leila Angrad finsihed in second place. The Sudbury, Ont., native was just eight seconds behind the leader. Queen's Golden Gael Leslie Sexton finished in third place.

The Mustangs finished second in the team category with 77 points while Windsor edged out Queen's for third and the final spot at CIS nationals.

"I still feel like I had a lot of energy left," the grad student said after the race. "I felt very comfortable out there."

Carson, a rookie and native of Cambridge, Ont., won the Gryphon Open earlier this season and is a multiple national team member who competed Pan-Am juniors and the world cross-country champs. She's also a former OFSAA and national champion.
